Precinct 3 Completes Holderrieth Road Widening Project

HARRIS COUNTY, TX – Precinct 3 announces the completion of one of the largest capital improvement projects in Harris County with the widening of Holderrieth Road.

What was once a two-lane roadway is now a four-lane concrete boulevard along Holderrieth Road, from Highway 249 to just west of Hufsmith-Kohrville Road. This $31.4 million project includes nearly 2 miles of roadway lined with a 5-foot-wide sidewalk, a new traffic signal at the intersection with S. Cherry Street, and storm sewer.

“Our Precinct 3 team of engineers assess the needs of our roadways from trends in traffic volume and flow to the need for additional drainage and pedestrian access,” said Precinct 3 Commissioner Tom S. Ramsey, P.E. “Holderrieth Road is a main artery through the Tomball area, and we hope drivers will now enjoy a smoother road and better commute as they travel to their destinations.”

Travelers who commute using this portion of Holderrieth Road east of Highway 249 area will now notice improved traffic flow to and from nearby businesses and neighborhoods. This project was made possible through funding partnership with a Community Development Block Grant with the Harris County Housing and Community Development.
