The four-lane bridge features sidewalks and serves to alleviate traffic along West Lake Houston Parkway
The bridge includes four new lanes to provide a route over the Union Pacific Railroad tracks. This will improve traffic flow from north to south along Timber Forest Drive and alleviate traffic along West Lake Houston Parkway, a route that drivers often take to Centennial Elementary. Additionally, benefits to the community include 8-foot-wide sidewalks along the bridge that provide a safe route for walkers, joggers, and bicyclists.
“The Lake Houston area is booming with growth, and it’s these types of partnerships that help communities flourish,” said Commissioner Ramsey. “Humble ISD does great work with our children, parents, and overall community, and I am proud to have been a part of this with them.”
The bridge opens just in time for the district’s 2023 spring semester. Construction began in 2021 with a cost of approximately $6,667,000.
“The Timber Forest Bridge reduces traffic along West Lake Houston Parkway and provides a more efficient route for school buses and families,” said Humble ISD Superintendent Dr. Elizabeth Fagen. “We are excited to see it open and appreciate the opportunity to partner with Commissioner Ramsey in enhancing our community’s quality of life.”
