HARRIS COUNTY, TX – Precinct 3 Commissioner Tom Ramsey gathered with community members today to mark the completion of one of the most anticipated park improvement projects this year. Meyer Park is now home to a new inclusive playground for children with special needs and pickleball courts to meet the growing demands of the popular sport.
“Improvements like the inclusive playground and pickleball courts serve as prime examples of taking residents’ input from our Precinct 3 Parks and Trails Master Plan and turning that information into actual projects for better outdoor amenities,” said Commissioner Ramsey. “And because we have the largest parks and trails system in Harris County, this remains one of our top priorities. We love our parks and trails because they enhance the lives of our Precinct 3 residents.”
The 8,650-square-foot inclusive playground includes an array of apparatuses for learning and play like an electronic piano panel, chimes, mini truck, and a playhouse. The Channings Joy Foundation donated the playground’s Communication Board to foster expression through visual symbols and words.
The addition of the new courts is one part of a three-park project that will also include new courts at I.T. May Park in Huffman and Russ Poppe Family Park in Cypress, both of which are currently in construction. With the three new courts, Precinct 3 will soon be home to a total of 12 pickleball courts.
Meyer Park is located at 7700 Cypresswood Drive, Spring, Texas 77379. Precinct 3 is home to 72 parks, 10 community and nature centers, eight hike and bike trails and the Spring Creek Greenway, which serves as the longest urban-forested corridor in the United States.
