HARRIS COUNTY, TX – Klein community members gathered alongside Precinct 3 Commissioner Tom Ramsey this week to cut the ribbon on a much-anticipated sidewalk and additional improvements made to their school zone.
This $800,000 project includes 1.5 miles of new sidewalk along Ella Boulevard/Falvel Road, from FM 2920 to Sapling Trail Court and Falvel Road. It allows for students to walk to and from the campuses of Klein Collins High School, Schindelwolf Intermediate School, and Kreinhop Elementary School.
“Having safe neighborhoods is not just about fighting crime; it’s about our kids being able to safely walk to school,” said Commissioner Ramsey.
In addition to the sidewalk, Precinct 3 also added a school zone flashing light, additional school zone signage, and ADA-compliant pedestrian ramps. This project follows school zone safety investments by Commissioner Ramsey’s office that includes approximately $3.5M in school zone flashing lights and $2.6M for sidewalks and ramp modifications at school intersections and crossings.
“The sidewalk project is something we’ve needed for many years, because previously, kids would walk in the median, street, ditches, and grass to get to school,” said Isidro Garza, Klein community member and activist. It is a tremendous blessing that Commissioner Ramsey has made this a priority.”
