The Punch List
Commissioner Tom Ramsey Honors Cactus Jack Cagle With Renaming of Big Stone Lodge
HARRIS COUNTY, TX – Nestled in Spring, Texas, and known for its rustic charm, Big Stone Lodge will now have the name Cactus Jack Cagle Community Center. Precinct 3 Commissioner Tom Ramsey and other local leaders celebrated the occasion on Saturday, September 28th, with an event honoring the former commissioner who served his precinct for over a decade. Cagle was appointed in 2011 as Harris County Precinct 4 Commissioner by Harris County Judge Ed Emmett to serve out an unexpired term. He was then elected to that position where he served until 2023. “We honor the contributions of Cactus Jack Cagle and for all he did for his constituents during his time as a Harris County Commissioner,” said Precinct 3 Commissioner Tom Ramsey. “It is because of him that we have this beautiful facility that so many choose for their special wedding day and for their gatherings. When people now visit Cactus Jack Cagle Community Center, they’ll learn about the man who dedicated his life to the care of our parks and centers for everyone to enjoy.”
Cagle is an attorney, mediator, and arbitrator and previously served as Judge of Harris County Civil Court at Law #1 for more than 30 years. He is an alumnus of Rice University and the Baylor University School of Law and taught as an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Houston Law School from 2002 until 2012 and taught on the faculty of the National Institute for Trial Advocacy. He is married to his wife Janet, and they have three children and one grandson.
The Cactus Jack Cagle Community Center is located at 709 Riley Fuzzel Road in Spring, Texas. The center is next to Dennis Johnston Park, which boasts 41 acres and park and trail connectivity.
